Application and Introduction
The ZG series (ultra-fine) rotary drum screen is widely used in municipal wastewater treatment plants, including activated sludge processes, MBR systems, BAF processes, and sludge return lines. It
is also suitable for industrial wastewater pretreatment in paper making, textile, and food processing industries.
The unit integrates solid–liquid separation, screening, cleaning, debris conveying, and compaction/dewatering into one compact system. It effectively removes floating and suspended solids, then presses and dewaters the screenings before discharge.

Main Structure and Working Principle
The screen is installed in the channel at an inclination of approximately 35°, with the screw conveyor and compaction unit integrated into one assembly.
Wastewater flows into the cylindrical rotary drum, which is made of high-strength stainless steel woven mesh (SS316). Hair, fibers, and fine debris are retained on the drum surface. As the retained solids accumulate and a water level difference forms across the screen, the drum starts rotating automatically.
At the same time, the high-pressure spray washing system above the drum is activated. The spray water washes the retained debris into the central screw conveyor. During conveying, the screenings enter the compaction chamber, where they are pressed and dewatered to a solid content of 35–40%, then discharged through the outlet hopper.

The entire process is fully enclosed, preventing odor release. This design saves installation space and reduces downstream screenings handling costs.
The screen operates in continuous contact with wastewater. All wetted parts are made of SS304 stainless steel, while non-metallic components are wear-resistant materials. The heavy-duty design ensures reliable operation in harsh environments.
Key Features
35° inclined installation, allowing effective separation even with fine openings.
Self-cleaning spray system ensures stable performance and prevents clogging.
Cylindrical drum design provides higher hydraulic capacity, lower head loss, and reduced upstream accumulation compared with traditional screens.
All wetted parts made of stainless steel, acid-pickled and passivated for excellent corrosion resistance and long service life.
Integrated screening, conveying, and compaction, reducing footprint and lowering screenings disposal costs.
Low maintenance requirement, no lubrication needed at rotating points, and minimal drive maintenance.
Rotary fine drum screen uses wedge wire or perforated panels with slot sizes of 2.0–5.0 mm, effective for large debris and floating solids.
Ultra-fine rotary drum screen uses stainless steel woven mesh with opening sizes of 0.50–2.0 mm.
With spray pressure above 7 bar, it efficiently removes fibers, hair, and textile materials.
