Introduction
The Non-Metallic Chain Sludge Scraper is a high-efficiency sludge removal system designed for water and wastewater treatment applications. Available in chain-and-flight configurations, it integrates sludge scraping, oil skimming, and scum removal in one unit.
With a robust and rational mechanical design, key components are manufactured from high-performance non-metallic materials and wear-resistant metals, ensuring long service life, reliable operation, and easy installation and maintenance. The equipment supports 24-hour continuous or intermittent operation, making it an ideal solution for municipal, chemical, textile, metallurgical, and industrial wastewater treatment facilities.

Main Application
Applicable Tank Types: Rectangular primary and secondary clarifiers, horizontal flow sedimentation tanks, grit chambers, oil separators; circular clarifiers, thickeners, and various tank configurations requiring surface scum removal.
Typical Industries: Municipal wastewater and water treatment plants, chemical, textile, metallurgical, petrochemical industries—especially suitable for tanks with high sediment or flotation oil/scum recovery requirements.
Working Principle
Driven by a gear reducer and suspended transmission system, the scraper blades are pulled by chains to move continuously or linearly along the tank bottom. Settled sludge is gently conveyed to a central sludge trough or hopper and discharged by hydrostatic pressure or pumps.
The system adopts central inlet with sludge discharge and peripheral effluent outlet, ensuring uniform flow distribution. A level-difference self-suction mechanism enables efficient sludge removal, while an integrated skimming device simultaneously removes surface oil and scum. In the event of blockage or excessive load, the overload protection system automatically cuts power and triggers an alarm to protect the equipment.
Main Structure
Drive Unit: Composed of an asynchronous induction motor, three-stage vertical cycloidal reducer, and transmission chain system. High transmission efficiency, high torque, smooth operation, with mechanical overload protection via shear pin.
Wheel Assembly: Includes drive wheels, return wheels, and tensioning wheels, made of precision-cast ZG35 steel, equipped with clean-water lubricated bearings for reliable long-term operation.
Scraper Blades & Chains: Scraper blades are fabricated from bent stainless steel plates with replaceable wear pads for thorough sludge removal. Double-row conveying chains with optimized pitch are made of lost-wax cast ZG35 steel, with a safety factor ≥ 5.
Auxiliary Structures: Guide rails, supports, sludge collection pipes, anti-derailment devices, and flow-stabilizing cylinders. PVC guide rails ensure precise scraper tracking. Selected models can be supplied with an integrated steel truss service bridge, reducing civil construction work.
Electrical Control System: Explosion-proof control cabinet (PLC interface ready) supports automatic start/stop, time-based operation, and remote control. The cabinet is fitted with a weatherproof canopy and installed near the tank.
Other Accessories: Includes base frames, anchor bolts, nuts, washers, and all necessary installation hardware for complete on-site assembly.

Features
l High Efficiency
Multiple scraper blades operating at low speed (≈2 m/min) minimize hydraulic disturbance while ensuring efficient sludge and scum removal. Bottom slope of 1:10 keeps sludge resistance negligible.
l Compact & Low Maintenance
Simple transmission layout with fewer moving parts. High-rigidity tubular main shaft, no bottom bearings, significantly reducing maintenance requirements.
l Safe & Reliable Operation
Dual overload protection (mechanical shear pin + electrical protection). Automatic alarm and shutdown at preset torque limits prevent equipment damage.
l Strong Adaptability
Scraping capacity adjustable to site conditions. Supports continuous or intermittent operation. Optional concrete components available to reduce capital cost.
l Easy Maintenance
Corrosion-resistant components with long service life. Replaceable wear pads and user-friendly electrical and mechanical access simplify servicing.
